Your First Visit to Our Vein Clinic

What to expect from SIVC and Your Vein Treatment Plan

At Southern Illinois Vein Center, the first thing we want you to do prior to your first visit is to relax. Vein treatment is much faster, more convenient and easier on you than it once was. The staff at our vein clinic is devoted to protecting your best interests and providing the best possible care for our patients. While many are fearful of varicose vein treatment and other vascular treatment plans, Dr. Robelen’s skill and today’s state-of-the-art, minimally invasive techniques mean fast in-office procedures, little or no downtime and great results.

What to Wear for Your Vein Clinic Appointment

For your first appointment, wear comfortable clothes. Shorts are advised. Also, be ready to tell us your history of vascular disease and vein related symptoms as well as the details of your medical history. What medications do you take? What prior medical procedures have you had? What diagnoses have you had? You can get the jump on your first visit by downloading the new patient form and other related forms and policies here.

How Long the First Vein Treatment Consultation Will Take

Initial consultations with Dr. Robelen, the vein specialist, usually take about two hours. That’s because vascular disease is complex… and deserves thoroughness and attention to detail. Also, Dr. Robelen is dedicated to providing appropriate, effective treatment tailored to your needs. So, please plan for an appointment lasting approximately two hours.

Painless and Noninvasive Testing

When you come for your appointment at Southern Illinois Vein Center, you will likely be examined using ultrasound, if it’s warranted. If you do need an ultrasound exam, remember that it’s noninvasive, painless and harmless. It’s just sound waves, like sonar, but it lets Dr. Robelen find varicose veins and vascular problems to plan precise treatment. We’ll be examining your legs, and we’ll provide you with a pair of shorts, so you don’t have to bring your own.
